AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 976, LOCAL AND PRIVATE LAWS OF 1996, TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF GEORGE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE FUNDS TO THE VARIOUS GEORGE COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASSISTING THE FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN PURCHASING FIRE TRUCKS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. Chapter 976, Local and Private Laws of 1996, is amended as follows:

Section 1. (1) The Board of Supervisors of George County, Mississippi, in its discretion, may contribute to the various George County fire departments, out of any available funds, an amount not to exceed the aggregate sum of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000.00) for the purpose of assisting the fire departments to purchase fire trucks. This subsection (1) shall stand repealed from and after July 1, 2001.

(2) In addition to that amount provided in subsection (1) of this section, the Board of Supervisors of George County, Mississippi, in its discretion, may contribute an amount not to exceed the aggregate sum of Five Hundred Twenty-five Thousand Dollars ($525,000.00) for the purpose of assisting the fire departments in purchasing fire trucks.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
